UtopYA Con: Where all the cool kids go to meet their favorite female authors!

It’s time to get excited and to get to Nashville for the first ever UtopYA Con, which is the convention for female, paranormal/fantasy young adult authors and readers who love them. It will be held at the Scarritt-Bennett Center in Nashville, TN on July 6-8, 2012. Would you like to come? You’re already excited I know, but wait until I tell you who’s coming (and this is just a few)… Myra McEntire (Hourglass and Timepiece), Angeline Kace (Descended by Blood), Amy Bartol (The Premonition Series), Tammy Blackwell (Timber Wolves), Tiffany King (Saving Angels), Abbi Glines (The Vincent Boys), Ella James (Stained), Jessica Sorenson (Fallen Star), and so many more! You can find the full list at the UtopYA Con website.

Here’s what a few of them are saying about going to UtopYA Con:
Raine Thomas (Daughters of Saraquel)- “"The world's been waiting for a conference like UtopYA. It's unique and in a class of its own. If you enjoy YA fantasy and paranormal stories, you can't miss this event!”
Chelsea Fine (Sophie and Carter)- “"Don't miss out on UtopYa Con 2012: Bringing your YA books to life!"
Brina Courtney (Cryptid Tales)- “If you’re a true YA fan, you’ll be there, mixing it up with all of us.”

But it’s not just for fans, it’s for authors too. Learn the tricks of the trade from people who are there, doing it successfully already. There are sessions and panels for both readers and writers alike. So how about it? You wanna go? Well obviously you do, but here’s the question… ARE YOU GOING?

Here’s where you can find out more about tickets. Now, so maybe you’re awesome, but you can’t go, and you’re bummed obviously. Well you still want to participate right? Here’s your chance, from now until June 29th, 2012 you can vote for your favorite books to win UtopYA Con awards, hosted by CMT’s Katie Cook. Pretty sweet right? I know, I think so too.

Anyway because we had so many blogs help us to promote this unique event we decided to do some fun giveaways provided by some of our authors at UtopYA Con and some other authors.

Good luck and we’ll see you at UtopYA Con!

Book Trailer Thursday! (#10)

Book Trailer Thursday is a weekly meme hosted at Libby Blog that features book trailers of books that are either just out in stores or are coming soon.

I have FINALLY finally read this book and the trailer makes 10x more sense now!
UNDER THE NEVER SKY by Veronica Rossi!

Release Date:
January 3rd, 2012!
Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)
Add to Goodreads here.

Summary/Synopsis:
WORLDS KEPT THEM APART.
DESTINY BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER.
Aria has lived her whole life in the protected dome of Reverie. Her entire world confined to its spaces, she's never thought to dream of what lies beyond its doors. So when her mother goes missing, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland long enough to find her are slim.
Then Aria meets an outsider named Perry. He's searching for someone too. He's also wild - a savage - but might be her best hope at staying alive.
If they can survive, they are each other's best hope for finding answers.

BEHOLD THE EPIC TRAILER. Certainly not the best graphics but overall ..EPIC.
THEY GOT IT WRONG! Perry does not say "You closer." He says NEARER not CLOSER. My only complaint.

BLOGGER VS BLOGGER! Who shall win!?

Pretty dramatic blog post title if I do say so myself but it's true. Me and another blogger in this book blogging world are going to go HEAD to HEAD in the most epic reading battle ...EVER!
Epic Battle

Haha, I kind of exaggerated but it makes that GIF makes it far more interesting. Me and Rogier from Roro is Reading have read the exact number of books ....41 and he suggested we have a little competition. Me, one who never backs down from a challenge, accepted. The rules were:
  • Re-reads do not count.
  • Short stories, novellas, etc do not count.
Since this battle has gone now for one or two (maybe three) weeks we would like to give you guys an update....

Rogier- 46 books (he's currently reading Enchanted)
Monica (me)- 50 books (currently reading Under The Never Sky)

This epic reading battle shall go on until the end of September which is September 30th. Now, just watch as Rogier gets his reading butt kicked by a little 13-year-old girl! :D But no ..He is only 4 books behind. No doubt gonna leave me in the dust soon.

I'll keep you guys updated as we go along. Now, who do you think will win?

Review: One Moment by Kristina McBride

Author:
Kristina McBride

Release Date:
June 26th, 2012

Grade:
A
Does It Have a Trailer?
Not that I know of.

Cover:
It's kind of connected to the novel ...I can't really explain it but the cover is nice and pretty but it would be pretty forgettable if didn't have an awesome story and perfect title to be with.

One MomentSummary/Synopsis:
This was supposed to be the best summer of Maggie’s life. Now it’s the one she’d do anything to forget.
Maggie Reynolds remembers hanging out at the gorge with her closest friends after a blowout party the night   before. She remembers climbing the trail hand in hand with her perfect boyfriend, Joey. She remembers that last kiss, soft, lingering, and meant to reassure her. So why can’t she remember what happened in the moment before they were supposed to dive? Why was she left cowering at the top of the cliff, while Joey floated in the water below—dead?
As Maggie’s memories return in snatches, nothing seems to make sense. Why was Joey acting so strangely at the party? Where did he go after taking her home? And if Joey was keeping these secrets, what else was he hiding?

I cried. Kristina grabbed my heart, cuddled it, slowly stopped, threw it out the floor, and stomped it into a million pieces. Then as the novel kept progressing she slowly picked up all the pieces one by one until they were put together again.

Book Trailer Thursday! (#9)

Book Trailer Thursday is a weekly meme hosted at Libby Blog that features book trailers of books that are either just out in stores or are coming soon.

This scared me, okay? It seems far-fetched but you can't deny it can be real.

Fossil River by Jock Miller!

Release Date:
May 21st 2012

Add it to Goodreads here.
Summary/Synopsis:
Fossil fuel has an ageless affinity with dinosaurs. To create oil, dinosaurs died. Now the tables are turning!
The perfect energy storm is sweeping over the United States: Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown has paralyzed nuclear expansion globally, BP’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill has stalled deep water drilling, Arab oil countries are in turmoil causing doubt about access to future oil, the intensity of hurricanes hitting the Gulf’s oil rigs and refineries has intensified due to global warming, and the nation’s Strategic Oil Supply is riding on empty.
As the energy storm intensifies, the nation’s access to Arab oil, once supplying over sixty percent of our fossil fuel, is being threatened causing people to panic for lack of gas at the pumps, stranding cars across the country and inciting riots.
The U.S. Military is forced to cut back air, land, and sea operations sucking up 58% of every barrel of oil to protect the nation; U.S. commercial airlines are forced to limit flights for lack of jet fuel; and businesses are challenged to power up their factories, and offices as the U.S. Department of Energy desperately tries to provide a balance of electric power from the network of aged power plants and transmission lines that power up the nation.
The United States must find new sources of domestic fossil fuel urgently or face an energy crisis that will plunge the nation into a deep depression worse than 1929.
The energy storm is very real and happening this very moment. But, at the last moment of desperation, the United States discovers the world’s largest fossil fuel deposit found in a remote inaccessible mountain range within Alaska’s Noatak National Preserve surrounding six and a half million acres. Preventing access to the oil is a colony of living fossil dinosaurs that will protect its territory to the death. Nobody gets out alive; nobody can identify the predator--until Dr. Kimberly Fulton, Curator of Paleontology at New York’s Museum of Natural History, is flown into the inaccessible area by Scott Chandler, the Marine veteran helicopter pilot who’s the Park’s Manager of Wildlife. All hell breaks loose when Fulton’s teenage son and his girlfriend vanish into the Park. Will the nation’s military be paralyzed for lack of mobility fuel, and will people across America run out of gas and be stranded, or will the U.S. Military succeed in penetrating this remote mountain range in northwestern Alaska to restore fossil fuel supplies in time to save the nation from the worst energy driven catastrophe in recorded history?

Okay, that synopsis is ridiculously long but anyway here is the trailer!!

I'm back from the ...dead?

I am back and ready to blog! The school year is over. I finished Track & Field, I graduated, and exams are OVER.

I'll be back to posting reviews, memes, and everything else starting tomorrow but here is the run-down on what is happening on the blog:

  • No more Teaser Tuesday
I really liked doing this meme but guys. I will be 100% honest. I really don't have the patience to type up a sentence or two. I know, I know but it's true. I hurt myself trying to type it up so I will no longer be participating in Teaser Tuesday.

  • Cover Analysis will presume it's Saturday spot
I haven't been exactly on par with my Cover Analysis posts and that will be rolling immediately.

Um, I thought there would be more changes but I guess not. :P Anyway, I can't wait to start blogging again! :) I missed it ...and now that I think about it. I haven't been really been gone because I've been on Twitter 24/7. In my defense, Twitter is addicting.
